Fuel Recovery Service
Unleaded Petrol Shelf Life
Best Case Scenario
Petrol will normally last from 6 months up to one year if stored properly in a sealed container at the correct temperature. However this is rarely the case, if you have had a car or boat sitting around.

Worst Case Scenario
Even a small amount of air at approx. 30°C can reduce the storage life to as little as 1-3 months.
Diesel Fuel Shelf Life
Best Case Scenario
Just about all diesels contain a small amount of water, it can also grow microbes as time progresses. However it is generally more stable then petrol with a shelf life of 6 to 12 months, or longer if treated with biocides.

Worst Case Scenario
Water can accumulate to create a microbe friendly environment, we have seen diesel fuel discolour, even changes to the way it smells, in as little as 2 months. However most diesel fuels used for motorists, has been used up by the engine in less than 3 weeks.
Petrol & Diesel Evaporation
Petrol Evaporation
Ethanol fuels generally evaporate quicker, however given enough time even premium unleaded can also completely evaporate, as a general rule of thumb, the higher the temperature, the faster your fuel will evaporate.

Diesel Evaporation
Diesel is a heavier fuel and more stable then petroleum fuels, so expect diesel to evaporate at a much slower rate.
